Use the documented contract
Open the API documentation in your account and review authentication, endpoint names, required fields, and response shapes. Avoid building from an old screenshot or another provider’s example. Record which endpoint creates an order and which endpoint reads its state. Confirm whether requests that appear similar have different billing effects. Keep credentials out of browser-side scripts and shared logs.
Build explicit local states
Represent the workflow with states such as created, awaiting message, message received, completed, and ended. Map the provider’s actual response labels to those states rather than inventing a successful result when parsing fails. Keep the order identifier, selected route, and expiry with the state record. This gives each response a clear context and prevents messages from being applied to an unrelated account challenge.
Poll within a bounded window
Use a reasonable interval consistent with the current API limits, plus a request timeout. Set an overall stop time based on the order’s access window. Back off after rate-limit or transient server responses instead of creating a rapid retry loop. If the network fails, keep the order identifier and reconcile its current state before taking a new purchasing action. A timeout describes uncertainty, not proof that an order was never created.
Finish and log safely
Stop polling once the verification flow is complete or the order ends. Store diagnostic status, timestamps, and order identifiers without logging live codes by default. Match a received message to its destination request before using it. Test parsing failures and interrupted connections in a controlled environment. Your integration should report an unresolved state honestly rather than continuing forever or silently purchasing another number.
Questions and answers
Should polling run forever until a code arrives?
No. Respect the access window, API limits, and a defined stopping condition.
Can I put an API key in public JavaScript?
Avoid it. Keep credentials in a protected server-side integration.
Using SMS Activation responsibly
Use numbers only for accounts, applications, and tests you are authorized to access. Follow the target platform’s terms and local law. Availability, prices, supported routes, and payment networks can change, so verify current details in the dashboard before paying.
